I consider cranberry-apple sauce the perfect accompaniment to any roasted chicken or turkey dinner. The sweet and tart flavours of the sauce really help to brighten up the flavours of any roasted poultry.

Yields about 1-1/2 cups


  • 2 cups fresh cranberries
  • 1 golden delicious or granny smith apple, peeled, cored and diced
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 3/4 cup orange juice or apple juice

In a medium saucepan, add in all of the ingredients and stir to combine. Turn the heat up to medium high and once it comes to a bubble, turn the heat down to a gentle simmer. Cook for about 15-18 minutes. The sauce should be slightly thick. Cool until just warm and serve.

Note: This sauce will thicken more as it cools. It can be served cold as well.
