Here's a fun way to have pizza. Try making pizza using chewy naan bread. What I did was omit the tomato sauce and just layered fresh vegetables and herbs with a light sprinkling of shredded mozzarella cheese. I serve this with Greek Tzatziki sauce on top of each slice of pizza. I figured since I was already combining central Asian naan bread with Italian pizza ingredients I thought why not continue this cultural fusion and add Greek Tzatziki sauce on top when serving. It turned out to be a different but yummy take on pizza. I hope you try this and let me know what you think.

Serves 2

Preheat the oven to 400 Degrees F.

  • 2 Naan breads (can substitute Greek Pita bread)
  • chicken, turkey or ham deli meat, cut into strips
  • tomato slices
  • thin red onion slices
  • mozzarella cheese, grated
  • fresh basil leaves, roughly ripped on top
  • fresh flat leaf parsley, chopped
  • 1/4 tsp vegetable blend seasoning
  • 2 tbsp of olive oil

1. Preheat the oven to 400 F and take a baking sheet and place an aluminum foil on top for easy clean up later on. Place both of the naan breads and put it into the oven for 2 minutes to lightly brown the tops. Take it out of the oven and leave it aside while you slice and chop the other ingredients.

2. Layer all of the ingredients on the lightly toasted naan bread sprinkling the grated cheese, vegetable seasoning and the fresh herbs last. Take the olive oil and drizzle 1 tbsp lightly over each naan pizza. Pop it back to the oven and bake them for about 10 minutes or until the cheese has nicely melted and the bottom of the naan bread has lightly toasted.

3. While the naan pizzas are baking start making the tzatziki sauce. I already have this recipe on the blog, here is the link:

I would suggest using thick Greek style yogurt instead for this recipe and omitting the fresh dill since you don't want the dill to overshadow the fresh basil in the pizza.

4. Take the pizzas out of the oven and let cool for a couple minutes before slicing. When eating this spoon a bit of tzatziki sauce on top of the slice of pizza and eat!
